The sci-fi movie “Venom 2,” based on the Marvel comics, will likely not be released in 2021. Sources at Sony Pictures Studios say that its management plans to postpone the release until 2022. Indirect confirmation of this development could be the complete absence of the project in the list of presentations, which the studio held at CinemaCon.
On the upcoming changes in the rental schedule picture hinted at and the last trailer, which had no release date. There is speculation that “Venom 2” could take the place of another film based on the comics, “Morbius,” which is due out in late January. Studio officials have not yet commented on this information.
Recall that the sequel, starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Woody Harrelson, has previously been delayed several times. The main reason was the ongoing pandemic coronavirus new type and the restrictions imposed everywhere.
The studios are also assessing the level of audience interest in theatrical viewing. It was previously reported that in North America it had fallen to 66 percent by the end of the summer, a result considered critical for the box office.
